the fundraiser

On January 27th 2024, Nikita Chincholkar performed a 1.5 hour Margam, raising over $2500 for the Childhood Cancer Therapy Development Institute in Portland, Oregon to aid the research for pediatric oncology drugs. 6 months before the performance, she found out that her close childhood friend had been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. This was devastating and she chose to convert her Arangetram, a solo dance debut that typically features several expensive costumes and pricey gifts, into a fundraiser to raise money for childhood cancer drug development research. She urged friends and family to donate in lieu of gifts and expensive preparations. She is passionate about equalizing funding gaps between adult cancers and childhood cancers, and she hopes to continue advocating for children in college and beyond.
